ABOUT US
Our Story
Bellamire is a family-owned company founded in Berlin in 2019.
With years of experience in luxury fashion — including at Dior, Chanel, and Balenciaga — we consciously chose a different path: designs that stay in tune with the times, without the need to be exclusive and unattainable. Instead, we stand for fair, accessible prices — and for the goal of acting more responsibly and sustainably, step by step.
Our story is far from over. We’re looking forward to writing the next chapters together with you.
What sets us apart
-
Designs made to last
We design bags you won’t wear “just this season” — but again and again.
-
A curated selection, not mass production
We focus on a thoughtfully chosen collection — instead of producing every trend in excess.
-
Made for everyday life
A bag should look great — but above all, it should work. For the day, on the go, for every moment.
Bellamire for everyone
Diversity you can feel
It matters to us that we create bags for everyone — regardless of background or appearance. When different perspectives are considered, products are created in which more people can see themselves. We want our customers to feel seen, valued, and simply comfortable with our designs.
That’s why we’re continuously working on adapting and expanding our range, so that everyone can find the right piece for them.
Inclusion and diversity aren’t just buzzwords for us — they’re core values that guide what we do.

Responsibility & Sustainability
Sustainability isn’t something you tick off a to-do list and then sit back. It’s a journey that keeps bringing new challenges. We want to take you along — sharing our progress, but also being clear about what still lies ahead. Transparency is our priority, because we believe honesty and trust are the most important foundation for conscious purchasing decisions.
Here are a few things we’re proud of:
Collapsible content
No overproduction
Our products are timeless — so they don’t end up in the trash after just one season.
Social responsibility
We prioritize fair working conditions and choose our partners carefully — with the goal of working exclusively with certified facilities in the future.
More mindful materials
Depending on the model, we use materials such as PU-based vegan leather alternatives, microfiber materials, and recycled fibers (e.g., recycled polyester) — and we continuously evaluate how we can increase recycled content and further improve our materials.
Open communication
We’ve committed to full transparency and communicate openly about sustainability.
Production
From idea to bag
What starts as a design in Berlin becomes, in our partner factories, bags made to accompany you through everyday life.
We currently produce in:
- China (approx. 64%)
- Italy (approx. 31%)
- Turkey (approx. 5%)
One of the biggest misconceptions about sustainability:
Production in Asia is always bad, and production in Europe is always good. It’s not that simple. Manufacturing outside Germany mainly allows us to offer accessible prices — so beautiful bags aren’t reserved for just a few. And it can still be done fairly, if you take responsibility across the supply chain seriously. That’s exactly what we’re working on.
Direct contact
We believe responsibility doesn’t come from promises — it comes from proximity. That’s why we work with a carefully selected group of production partners, with dedicated contacts on site, and stay in direct communication.
To help ensure fair working conditions and reliable standards, we focus on long-term relationships rather than short-term orders. Together with our partners — and with supporting agencies and importers — we continuously review processes, materials, and quality requirements, improving them step by step.
Where possible, we work with facilities that are audited or operate according to recognized standards. At the same time, we know certificates aren’t everything. What matters is that we look closely, ask questions, and take responsibility consistently.
Our factories may be far away, but the people who work there are still close to us.
Our footprint
We produce bags — and that leaves footprints: in our office, during production, and in transport. These impacts can’t be avoided entirely, but they can be reduced. That’s why we’re transparent about where we’ve already made strong progress — and where there’s still work ahead.
Collapsible content
What we’re already doing
- 100% green electricity in our Berlin office
- Climate-friendly shipping with DHL GoGreen — you can find our current certificate here.
- Our packaging is registered with LUCID and participates in the dual system via Der Grüne Punkt — you can find our current participation certificate here.
- Transport: 91% by sea, 7% by truck, 2% by air
- CO₂ calculations: company-wide and product-level
- We set CO₂ emission reduction targets
- Internal travel guideline: train first
What we still need to tackle
- Take-back / second-life program (recycling, repairs, second-hand)
- Further transition in fleet/logistics (e.g., e-mobility where it makes sense)
- We create CO₂ emissions
If you want to improve, you first need to know where you stand. That’s why we make the emissions of our handbags as transparent as possible — as an average estimate based on our current data.
| Material production | 9,3 |
| Hardware (e.g., zipper, magnet) | 0,2 |
| Cutting & preparation | 0,3 |
| Sewing & assembly | 0,8 |
| Finishing (e.g., embossing/coating) | 0,3 |
| Packaging | 0,4 |
| Transport | 0,3 |
| Arbor / Salesforce Net Zero (benchmark) | 14,8 |
| Carbonfact (average value) | 16,3 |
Based on our calculations, we can define the next steps. That’s why we’ve made a conscious commitment not only to offset our CO₂ emissions, but above all to reduce them.
Why? It’s simple: offsetting can be a useful building block — but prevention is better. When we cut emissions at the source, we tackle the problem where it arises and create solutions that have a lasting impact.
5 quick questions & answers
Are Bellamire products sustainable?
We’d love to simply say “yes” out loud. But unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Sustainable production in the fashion industry is a huge challenge. What we can say with confidence: we’re doing our best — and we’re working step by step to get better.
We focus on durable, timeless designs instead of disposable trends, and for many models we use vegan materials and make more conscious material choices. And because responsibility also means social responsibility to us, we look as closely as possible at standards, working conditions, and processes at our partner facilities.
We also pay attention to the biggest lever in transport: shipping by sea instead of by air whenever possible. Less speed often means significantly fewer emissions. Air freight is the exception for us (2025: 2%) — only when there’s truly no other way.
Where does Bellamire produce?
Our bags are made in selected partner facilities in China (approx. 64%), Italy (approx. 31%), and Turkey (approx. 5%).
To ensure standards are upheld on site — even from Berlin — we rely on long-term partnerships with dedicated contacts. Where possible, we work with facilities that are audited or operate according to recognized standards.
What is your “most sustainable” product?
A classic politician’s answer: it depends. And it genuinely does — because each model comes with different advantages depending on what you’re looking at.
In general, models that require less material and allow us to use materials with recycled content (where available) tend to perform best. But to say conclusively which product is our most sustainable, we still lack some data — for example on water consumption, detailed material origins, and durability over time.
We’re working on it.
Why don’t you produce in Germany?
One of the biggest misconceptions about sustainability: production in Asia is always bad, production in Europe is always good. It’s not that simple. Producing outside Germany primarily allows us to offer fair, accessible prices — so beautiful bags aren’t reserved for just a few. And that can still be done fairly.
It would be blind activism to pull out overnight and take work away from partner facilities from one day to the next. Instead, we focus on long-term relationships, direct communication, and clear requirements — so standards and conditions on site are reliably maintained and improved step by step.
Because sustainability is a holistic approach: it’s not only about where something is made, but how decisions are made — around materials, processes, working conditions, and transparency.
What’s next for you in terms of sustainability?
Sustainability is a seriously big challenge — especially in the fashion industry. That’s why we believe transparency and honesty are what matter most.
Right now, we’re working on a sustainability report for Bellamire. We would have liked to publish it earlier — but we simply didn’t manage to. Now it’s firmly on the roadmap: as soon as it’s ready, it will give you deeper insights into our materials, processes, and emissions — and it will provide the foundation we need to take the next steps with focus and to improve in measurable ways.
It’s a journey. Are you in?
Who is responsible for sustainability at Bellamire?
Hi, I’m Lisa — and I coordinate sustainability at Bellamire. Of course, I don’t do it alone: the whole team is behind it, but I make sure we measure, prioritize, and keep improving consistently.
And one more important thought we want to share honestly:
Every product leaves a footprint. Even though we’re working to reduce ours, the biggest lever ultimately lies with you, too: only buy what you truly need — and use it for a long time.
